Austin Scott highlights legislative updates and celebrates Independence Day

Rep. Austin Scott, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Georgia’s 8th district, shared a series of tweets recently addressing various topics including legislative changes, congressional actions, and national celebrations.

On July 2, 2025, Rep. Scott posted a tweet clarifying exemptions under the changes proposed by the #OBBBA to SNAP. He stated that “Anyone under 18, Anyone over the age of 65, The medically disabled, Pregnant women,” among others are “Totally EXEMPT from the changes #OBBBA makes to SNAP.” He encouraged followers to verify this information directly from the bill text.

The following day on July 3, 2025, Rep. Scott announced via tweet that “.@HouseGOP just passed #OBBBA,” which was sent to “@POTUS’ desk.” He described this as “Historic relief for workers, middle-class families, small businesses and farmers.”

On July 4, 2025, Rep. Scott celebrated Independence Day with a tweet, expressing his gratitude for living in America where citizens enjoy “unparalleled freedoms every day.” He paid homage to “the fight of our forefathers who built the Shining City on the Hill” and concluded with a patriotic message: “God Bless America! “

Austin Scott has been serving in Congress since replacing Jim Marshall in 2011 and previously served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1996 to 2011. Born in Augusta in 1969 and residing in Tifton, he is an alumnus of the University of Georgia.
