U.S. Representative Austin Scott, who serves Georgia’s 8th district in Congress, addressed recent incidents of violence and ongoing international tensions in a series of posts on his social media account.

On March 12, 2026, Scott commented on violent events that occurred in Michigan and Virginia, stating: “Violence like what we have seen in Michigan and Virginia today has no place in this country. I am thankful for the brave actions of our law enforcement and security officers that prevented these events from becoming even bigger tragedies.”

The following day, Scott reflected on the death of Lt. Col. Brandon Shah, writing: “Lt. Col. Brandon Shah was a decorated Army pilot, University of Georgia grad, and instructor who was tragically murdered in his classroom in an act of violence that never should have happened.

Later on March 13, Scott addressed U.S.-Iran relations by posting: “Iran rejected all diplomatic efforts and refused to cease threatening the United States and our allies.

President Trump is not going to leave this war for future generations. He’s doing what needs to be done, and he’s doing it now.”
