Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Aug. 27.
This month Middle Georgia has had great news with the assumption of command of Robins Air Force Base by Col Lindsay Droz on 29 June. She was formerly the 402nd Aircraft Maintenance Group commander at the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex. Lt Gen Gene Kirkland, Air Force Sustainment Center commander, officiated the change of command ceremony at the Museum of Aviation. As the new 78th ABW commander, Droz is responsible for the logistics, medical, civil engineer, security, and mission support functions at Robins. In essence, she is the mayor of the Air Base Wing.
One excellent aspect of this news is that four of the key leaders are women. They are all strong leaders, picked by the Air Force for their proven capabilities and strong leadership. To quote Chrissy Miner, The Miner Agency and a Georgia Guard Major, “These women are incredibly hardworking and humble leaders with decades of sweat equity under their belts that culminated into the honor of a command position. I’m proud of my Air Force for recognizing their talents and thankful to those that paved the way to their success. As a female Airman… I stand a little taller today…”
We also say farewell to Col Brian Moore and his family as he moves on to a position at Air Force Materiel Command at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Middle Georgia wishes him well.
Additionally, we would like to highlight several quick bits of news stories the community will find interesting and demonstrate the excellent support of your Chamber and the Military Affairs Committee (MAC). Last week the base held a SNCO Induction Ceremony, supported by the Chamber, that highlighted about 45 Airmen who recently promoted into the Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO). During an evening banquet, the base was able to recognize the members and their families. Another program supported by the MAC is the Refuge, a place for Airman to socialize, network and enjoy themselves. This has reopened to the Airman after being closed due to the pandemic. Finally, the MAC supported a TSgt promotion celebration recognizing a significant milestone in an Airman’s career.
