City of Byron issued the following announcement on April 6.
A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of western Bibb, south central Monroe, Peach, north central Houston, Crawford and northeastern Taylor Counties through 1000 AM EDT Special Weather Statement issued April 5 at 9:36AM EDT by NWS Peachtree City GA At 935 AM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was over Lee Pope, or near Fort Valley, moving northeast at 45 mph.
HAZARD...40 to 50 mph wind, pea sized hail and frequent cloud to ground lightning.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of light, unsecured objects.

Macon, Fort Valley, Roberta, Warner Robins, Centerville, Byron, Nakomis, Lake Tobesofkee, Jack Brown Estates, Rutland, Musella, Knoxville, Lizella, Powerville, Skipperton, Lee Pope, Sandy Point, Horns and Middle Georgia Regional Airport.
People outdoors should seek shelter immediately. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
