Studying Criminal Justice

Dual Enrollment students studying criminal justice in Jasper County took a field trip to the Putnam County Jail. The class is currently studying the corrections component of the criminal justice system.  Students were able to hear about real life work experiences from current employees of the jail. As part of their tour, students were able to learn court proceedings, the booking and bail areas, as well as other parts of the jail like isolation, housing pods, and the medical unit. The goal of the field trip was to take the classroom discussions and textbook theories/principles learned and see them in a real-world environment at the Putnam County Jail.
