As we honor Black History Month, we encourage you to flip your calendars ahead to Saturday, June 17th and save the date to join us for our 3rd Annual Juneteenth Freedom Day Festival in Perry!
Our Juneteenth Freedom Day Festival celebrates the emancipation of those who had been enslaved in the United States. Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Today Juneteenth commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement.
In addition to live music, dancing, food trucks, a variety of vendors, and children's activities, our 3rd annual Juneteenth Freedom Day Festival will feature the Black History 101 Mobile Musem onsite from 10 AM - 3 PM. The Black History 101 Mobile Museum is an award-winning collection of over 10,000 original artifacts of Black memorabilia dating from the trans-Atlantic slave trade era to hip-hop culture.
