Rep. Austin Scott Mourns Loss of Servicemembers from Fort Moore

U.S. Representative Austin Scott (GA-08) expressed his sorrow over the loss of three servicemembers from the U.S. Army Reserve’s 718th Engineering Company out of Fort Moore, Georgia. The soldiers were killed in a recent Iranian proxy attack on a U.S. outpost in Jordan.

In a statement, Rep. Austin Scott said, "I am saddened to learn that three soldiers were KIA as a result of an Iranian proxy attack on a U.S. outpost in Jordan. All three servicemembers were Army Reserve soldiers from Fort Moore, Georgia."

He extended his condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, acknowledging that their loss cannot be measured with words. Rep. Scott also expressed his prayers for the swift recovery of the numerous servicemembers who were injured in the attack.

Rep. Scott emphasized the need for action from the Biden Administration to eliminate the Iranian proxies responsible for the attack. He stated, "It is past time for the Biden Administration to take action and eliminate the Iranian proxies responsible for this outrageous attack."

The Department of Defense provided information about the incident and the servicemembers who were killed. The soldiers were identified as Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, 46, of Carrollton, GA; Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, 24, of Waycross, GA; and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, 23, of Savannah, GA. They tragically lost their lives on January 28, 2024, in Jordan when a one-way unmanned aerial system impacted their container housing units. The incident is currently under investigation.

These brave soldiers were assigned to the 718th Engineer Company, 926th Engineer Battalion, 926th Engineer Brigade at Fort Moore, GA.

The loss of these servicemembers is a devastating reminder of the risks and sacrifices made by those in the military. As the investigation continues, the nation mourns the loss of these brave soldiers and holds their families in thoughts and prayers.
