TIFTON, Ga.—U.S. Representative Austin Scott (GA-08) has announced the commencement of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition. The competition is open to all high school students (9-12th grade) who reside in or attend school in the Eighth Congressional District.
"The Congressional Art Competition provides a unique opportunity for young artists to showcase their talent and creativity," said Rep. Austin Scott. "I encourage all high school students in the district to participate and share their artistic vision with the nation."
The winning artwork will be displayed in the United States Capitol for a year, alongside artwork from every congressional district across the country. Entries must be original in concept, design, and execution, and should not exceed the dimensions of 26” x 26” x 4”. Participants can submit artwork in various forms, including paintings, drawings, collage, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art, or photography.
This year, all the entries from across the district will be exhibited at the Syd Blackmarr Art Center in Tifton, Georgia. The exhibit and awards ceremony will take place on May 5th, providing an opportunity for the public to admire the talent of these young artists.
To participate in the competition, all artwork must be framed and submitted by April 19th. There are five drop-off locations available for submission:
- Howard High School: 6400 Forsyth Road, Macon, GA
- Congressman Scott's District Office in Warner Robins: 120 Byrd Way, Suite 100, Warner Robins, GA
- Lowndes High School: 1606 Norman Dr., Valdosta, GA
- Coffee County High School: 159 Trojan Way, Douglas, GA
- Congressman Scott's District Office in Tifton: 127-B Central Ave N, Tifton, GA
