Sen. Larry Walker III, representing the 20th Senate District in Georgia, provided an update on the activities and legislative progress under the Gold Dome as the 2024 Legislative Session nears its conclusion.

Walker highlighted the dedication of Georgia Senate members in advancing House bills, stating, "With only five legislative days remaining in the 2024 Legislative Session, Georgia Senate members are diligently working both within their respective committees and on the Senate floor to propel House bills forward."

One of the notable events of the week was the Georgia Military Veterans Hall of Fame Unveiling Ceremony, where Senate Republicans paid tribute to the state's veterans. Walker expressed his pride in supporting initiatives that benefit those who have served the nation, noting that the ceremony is a moving highlight of the session.

In terms of legislative accomplishments, Walker mentioned the passage of House Bill 244, aimed at enhancing regulations in Georgia's fish and game industries to protect the oyster population and aquaculture sector. He also highlighted his support for House Bill 880, emphasizing its significance in facilitating employment opportunities for military spouses relocating to Georgia.

Furthermore, Walker discussed the signing of Senate Bill 332 into law by Governor Brian P. Kemp, which empowers oversight of District Attorneys to uphold the law effectively. He commended the collective efforts of the General Assembly in advancing this legislation.

Additionally, Walker shared updates on committee work, including the favorable passage of House Bill 1185, which aims to reduce homestead taxes for working Georgians, providing them with opportunities to reinvest in the economy or save for the future.

In closing, Walker expressed his ongoing commitment to supporting law enforcement through initiatives like the "Back the Blue Act" and welcomed his father, Larry Walker II, and Judge Bryant Culpepper, former House member, to the Senate Chamber. He noted their longstanding dedication to public service, stating, "It was great to have my father and Judge Culpepper in the chamber with us this week as they represent generations of public service."

As the 2024 Legislative Session enters its final weeks, Sen. Larry Walker III encouraged constituents to reach out with any legislative matters and expressed his anticipation of continued progress under the Gold Dome.
