U.S. Representative Austin Scott has expressed his approval following the House's passage of the Fiscal Year 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The bill, which sets Department of Defense policies and authorizes funding for defense programs, was passed by a vote of 281-140.
Rep. Scott highlighted the benefits the NDAA will bring to Georgia, stating, "The FY25 NDAA provides several key wins for Georgia and focuses on improving the quality of life of all our service members and their families, who sacrifice so much to defend us." He emphasized the importance of supporting those who protect national freedoms.
Key provisions in the FY25 NDAA include a 14.5% pay raise for junior enlisted personnel and a 4.5% pay increase for Georgia's 89,900 servicemembers. The legislation also allocates $379.3 million for seven military construction projects in Georgia, expands employment support programs for military spouses, and increases childcare access for children from military families.
Rep. Scott successfully included 15 priorities in the final bill through either bill language or statements in the Joint Explanatory Statement accompanying it. One notable inclusion is recognition of the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex as critical to national defense by ensuring Air Force readiness and sustainability.
