Summerhill Elderliving Home & Care ranked as the largest nursing home in Houston County during the first quarter of 2026, data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) showed.

The facility operated 160 beds, which was 53 more than the Houston County average in the first quarter of 2026, and accommodated an average of 133 residents throughout the period.

The CMS assigned Summerhill Elderliving Home & Care an overall rating of 1 out of 5, which falls short of the 2.7 average for Georgia nursing homes.

Warner Robins Rehabilitation Center ranked as Houston County’s second largest nursing home that quarter, with 126 beds. Pruitthealth – The Lodge, LLC followed in third with 106 beds.

As of the first quarter of 2026, Summerhill Elderliving Home & Care had incurred $105,686 in three separate fines and received three penalties.

In Houston County, Georgia, there were four for-profit nursing homes during this timeframe.

Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau show the older adult population in the U.S. is rising while younger groups are declining. Between 2020 and 2024, Americans aged 65 and older grew by 13%, while the number of people under 18 dropped by 1.7%. The country’s older adult population has surged over the last century, expanding from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million by 2024.

A study released in 2021 concluded that nearly half of Americans 65 and older, close to 28 million people, could require long-term services and supports. The analysis also indicated that more than one-third are likely to need nursing home care eventually.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
